Interview Steven Reeves

For the first where are you from how old you are and how old you skate?

I grew up in Medford, Oregon (for the most part). I'm 37 and I've been skating for 24 years. What about the scene in your hometown how it was to started skating in your hometown and what was your favourite spot ? I started skating 6 months before the Medford Skatepark opened, and that's definitely where I spent all my time. We had a tight crew of people that would just go to the park everyday after school. This was before cell phones, so we'd just show up and see whoever was there. There was a good amount of skateboarders at my high school. We would all go to this specific parking lot and play SKATE every lunch break. Super fun times!

Since i was a teenager i remember you from a part where you doin kickflip to melon on the bank in creature black metal video 2007 wherre that was which park i love that part tell you more about these times to me and our readers in slovakia.

It took me a while to find this footage! That park is in Amarillo, Texas. I was actually on a Grindline skateparks trip when we filmed that. Here's a a link: https://youtu.be/MVFl-2G-X8s?si=9QTpiFXJZZajYPif&t=1700The Grindline guys hit up Jack's Board House and me, Johnny Turgesen, Justin Shreeve, and Tim Eberly went on a trip to film this part. It was so fun skating all the new parks.

Which are your actually sponsors? I like your videos on threads now you skate such a good spot near house what spot is that, its yours?

Blood Wizard boards, Bones wheels, and Jacks Board House are my sponsors. Yep! I have some skate stuff in my backyard. It’s fun.

What was your first skate contest and where do you remember that

Ripon, California: the “Hella Hella Nor-Cal” contest. It must have been 2005? It was my first skate contest that I traveled for. It was also the first time I won money! That park is so fun and everyone was ripping. I met a lot of really good friends down there too.

Whats your inspiration in skateboarding and life?

My inspiration in skateboarding has always been to challenge myself. I’m really motivated to see if I can figure out tricks/lines. It’s also just so much fun, I want to share that with other people. Making skate videos became my way to do that. Life: My inspiration has always been learning. I liked school and trying new subjects. New challenges are hard, but worth!

Your favourite skaters , which inspires you the most?

Lately I’ve been inspired by skaters that are still doing it! Daewon has my all time favorite Instagram page. Watching dudes like Decenzo and Andy Mac in the Olympics is really inspiring to me. Skating as I get a bit older is different, and I get inspired by seeing “older” people doing it too.

Your favourite spots, parks which you actually skating

I’ve been skating backyard spots a lot lately. There are a ton of really fun backyards here in Portland that keep me busy. Park wise: Lake Oswego, Burnside, and Estacada parks have been really fun lately .

Your favoutite skate videos , which skate video inspires you ?

I haven’t sat and watched a skate video in a while. Sessions for me are usually pretty quick. Old clips from videos like Tent City are always good. Old Black Label videos rule too!

I love doing skate art , did you like skate art i hope whats your favourite skate designs ??

I’m not too much of an artist myself, but I do love all the art that comes from skating. Old Powell graphics have an epic spot in skating, but I’ve been more hyped on the little brands lately. Nowadays you just need an Instagram page to show your art to people, and that’s great.

What do you think about the skateboarding olympics?

Skateboarding is what you want it to be. Is it an art to you? Great. Is it an Olympic sport to you? Cool. To me it’s just fun, and a way to challenge myself. If you asked me this when I was younger I may have been against it, but now I’m all for it.

Your last words, greetings maybe inspirative words to everyone included skaters who read this blog

If you're reading this and haven't picked up your board in a while (or ever), now is the time! Even just skating around the block will get you going. Nothing is quite like it; Enjoy it and share it with others!
