Interview Space Bat Killer

Hi , whats your real name,  how old you are ,where are you from and how old you skate?

Sean Bernhardt, 33 years old from Brielle, NJ. Its hard for me to remember that far back but I started skating early on during elementary school era

Where do you started skating? Whats was your fav spot and tell us something about you local scene

Growing up in Brielle there wasn't much to skate on. We used to wax the wooden walls/ledges out front of peoples houses around my neighborhood and skate those all the time. Green acres park (basketball courts) was mainly the go to. Everyone from my school would skate there and we'd just hit flat ground tricks, the mini banks that still exist, small grass gaps or just bring ramps and rails. I think my favorite memory was all the court sessions I had with my friends there growing up, it was the main spot where I learned how to progress at all the times. The local skate scene was always a positive environment for everyone back then. We all recognized one another and it was really open arms. I just remember getting along with all the older kids i looked up to and them giving back that same energy. I am from more of a surf community but a lot of kids did both

Your artwork is awesome, i like your collage style ,who and what you inspired to do artwork ?

Thanks man. People ask me this question all the time and I never know what to say. I feel like I am so inspired by everything and anything I see that catches my eye out in the streets in this world. Street art/graffiti style on the east coast was what really kicked it off for me, cause it goes hand and hand with skateboarding. There is a lot of meaning in the quick stuff. I really liked all the artists working with Insight (brand) when it was around too. They were cool cause it was always changing around and more chaotic, not the typical branding. To name some people I've been into over the years and more recently- Julien Langendorff, Nick (Mr Babies), Ed Templeton, Mike Lottie, Nathan Kostecho, Sucky Bat

Your first skate setup, did you remember on this?

I cant remember my first setup for the life of me but i do recall having one of those muska silhouette decks haha

What inspires you in skateboarding?, which skaters are your favourite and what era in skateboarding inspires you the most?

I like that things dont ever have to be perfect and that the boundaries are always being broken. Finding new spots or trying to make spots out of nothing is really fun to me. I get inspired when I see people keep throwing down at spots and things are always evolving. I am a sucker for the late 90's/early 2000's stuff. The whole Emerica crew/videos were what I was watching as a kid. Some skaters that i have always been a fan of- Gonz, Spanky, Lizard King, Gall

Your best music to skate

Punk, R n R, Black Metal

Your best skate videos

Emerica This Is Skateboarding

Your best skate magazines/zines? You are in the thrasher mag canvas 2 pages much respect bro! I know that feelings how do you get in the mag? If its not secret hahaa

Confusion Mag. Thrasher came about after working with Creature, Elias who filmed a quick look at my collage work for them told me to hit up Adam and it was in the burner. It took some time to come about but not too long, I am still stoked to have gotten the opportunity :)

Your last words, greetings etc feel free to write what you want thanks for your time

Rob, thanks for grilling me on some questions and digging my collages! it means a lot, expect a bunch more coming for next year. I cant wait to see the drawing you cook up
