Interview Bobby (Brown) Draws Skullz
Hi , for first thanks for your time , how old you are ,where are you from and how old you skate?
Hello thanks for having me !
I’m about to turn 51 , I’m from the small state of Delaware on the east coast , I think I started skating around 13 maybe …
Where do you started skating? Whats was your fav spot ?
I started skating with the kids in town , they were older but took me under there wing , showed me how too tic tac , boneless and stuff, back then all the schools were built like mini skateparks , ledges and steps , my favorite spot was at our jr high , there were curved yellow curbs not to tall but u could grind forever on them .
I love your art , who and what you inspired to do an art?
Thanks ! You’re a killer artist too!!! For inspiration idk I grew up looking at news strips tried to copy that stuff , beetle Bailey , Garfield , when I discovered Iron Maiden albums it all changed skulls and stuff , I really sucked at it I would trace covers but get mad cause I ruined the covers pressing so hard , I remember seeing Thrasher the puszone skull , I immediately fell in love with that style , I tried to draw like that for awhile , but later developed my own style , it’s still developing every day .
You does a graphic for powell steve caballero deck, how did you get that work? Its so sick
Thanks ! I’ve done a couple graphics for Cab , honestly it was all his idea, the first came from a Faction cover I did of the whole band , he liked the figure I did and asked if we could put it on a deck , of course I did yes , he has always been my favorite skater since I started , the chopper graphic he liked from something else I had drawn and we modified it to what his vision was , we were driving somewhere one day and he brought it up , so when I got home I got to work immediately .Cab is a great friend and mentor and I appreciate his friendship and love when we get to skate together!
For which brands did you do graphics? What was your best collab work?
I’ve lost track over the years but I’ll try to remember,
ATM click Ed Devera was my very first deck graphic , I owe it all to John Falahee he took a chance and let me do a good bit of stuff , I want to see him again when I’m out west and thank him again.

Whats your biggest inspiration in skateboarding and life?
Without skateboarding I don’t know what I would have become , skateboarding is the life that lives within me ,it’s helped me survive and achieve so much , my whole life revolves around it , My kids learned to ride skateboards before bikes it’s a brotherhood and family. For some it was a fad or something they did for others it’s a lifestyle, either way if you had it in your life you understand what I’m saying .
Whats your opinion to the olympics skateboarding?
I don’t really have an opinion on the Olympics if it’s good for people involved in that aspect of it fine , for me I’m not really up to date with skateboarding, I just skate and hold what it means to me inside , at this age it’s zen like , you need it to maintain sanity , I enjoy watching the younger guys I know skate and see the tricks , it’s amazing how fast they progress now , you can see the little skaters and when they are serious it’s mind blowing what they can achieve, I remember seeing a little girl with a note book of tricks and when she made a trick she’d check it off the list ! So wild !
Your best music to skate?

You’re welcome , thank you for the opportunity to share my craft ! What can I say ? I hope everyone keeps skating into there senior years if they physically can , we’re all built diffrent , I hope the young kids keep the generation they are in skating well past our existence,
Thank you to everyone I’ve ever worked with who believed in me, thank you to everyone who has bought my art , you’ve done more for my family then you will ever know thank you I appreciate you , be kind to each other , we’re all equal no matter race , gender or whatever , we’re human beings all on the same planet ,life is short , live without rules, within reason , be who u want to be not who you think they want you to be . Basically live your life take your foot off the brakes , take chances , commit ! Stay on your skateboard when you want to bail it will work out ! I learned the hard way and always get up, but I learned to just stay on and see what happens Your the captain of your own ship , ride whatever trucks make you happy unless your getting paid to ride a certain brand . Stay open minded and believe in yourself.
